IMPORTANT ADVICE WHEN USING ICING SHEETS:

1. Always bring icing sheets up to room temperature before opening and using to prevent cracking when cold.

2. Feed icing sheets into the rear feed only, with the plastic strip feeding first into the printer and the icing side facing towards you.

3. Once printed, ensure icing sheet is fully dry before cutting or applying to cakes. If not using once dry, ensure the printed icing sheet is stored in a sealable bag.

4. Avoid excess moisture when applying icing sheets to your cake surfaces and avoid refrigerating if possible.

5. Keep sealed between use to prevent icing sheets from drying out. Store icing sheets in a cool dry place (18-20 C) away from direct sunlight and moisture.

6. If applying to cakes with a moist surface such as buttercream, it is recommended to back your icing sheet with a thin layer of fondant to ensure it lasts longer on the cake.

What Are Icing Sheets?

Icing sheets consist of a thin edible layer of flexible icing bonded onto a sheet of plastic. Icing sheets are designed for use as printable edible paper for creating edible toppers and edible images for cake decorating. 

How Do Icing Sheets Work?

Icing sheets are flexible and have a plastic backing sheet which allows them to be fed into any edible printer and printed with edible ink to create cake toppers and images for your cakes and bakes.

What Can Icing Sheets Be Used For?

Printed icing sheets can be applied to a variety of cake surfaces including fondant/sugarpaste, buttercream, marzipan and even cream covered cakes. Icing sheets can also be used on chocolate and confectionery to add personalised details, logos and other custom designs to your treats. Their most popular use is for edible cake and cupcake toppers.

How Do I Use Printed Icing Sheets?

Once printed and dried, icing sheets can be peeled away from their backing sheet with ease before applying to cakes, bakes and desserts. To adhere them to your cakes, carefully moisten the back of the icing sheet with a small amount of water using a food-safe brush or spray, or use an edible adhesive like edible glue, piping gel or trex. Smooth the icing sheet to the surface pushing any air bubbles to the edges to ensure the icing sheet is securely in place.

How Long Do Icing Sheets Last?

Icing sheets are sealed in a resealable foil package, meaning they can be easily kept fresh between use. Due to our fast turn-around, all EPS icing sheets have a best before date of at least 18-24 months, meaning you can take advantage of our bulk discounts and stock up for the year ahead.

Are Icing Sheets Flavoured?

EPS icing sheets have a subtle sweet vanilla flavour so are ideal for using on sweet treats without changing the taste or flavour of your food.

Are Icing Sheets Vegan?

All EPS icing sheets are suitable for vegans and vegetarians and are not made with any animal derived ingredients.

Are Icing Sheets Gluten Free?

Yes! All EPS icing sheets are gluten-free and have been manufactured in a site that does not handle gluten-containing products. 

Do Icing Sheets Contain E171?

EPS stock a range of icing sheets that includde E171 as well as a range of E171-free options for the EU-market where E171 is not permitted for food use. For UK customers you can choose from any of our icing sheets as E171 is permitted for use in food. For our EU customers, you can find our E171-free icing sheets here.

How Do I Store Icing Sheets?

Icing sheets should be stored in their original foil bag between use ensuring it is fully sealed to maintain freshness. We also recommend keeping your icing sheets flat in a cool dry place (18-20°C), away from direct sunlight. If your icing sheets are stored cold it's important to bring them up to room temperature before use or they can be fragile and break.

Once icing sheets are printed and the edible ink has had time to dry, it is important to keep your icing sheets airtight in a food-safe grip seal bag. We stock a range of sealable bags for storing your edible prints in here.

Can I Keep Icing Sheet in the Fridge?

Unless your cake required refridgeration once decorated, we don;t recommend keeping icing sheets in the fridge since they can absorb the moisture from the fridge and become sticky. For this reason, we recommend applying your icing sheets to your cakes as close to the event or collection of the cake as possible. If you do need to keep your cakes with edible images in the fridge, do not seal them entirely in a airtight box as this can encourage condensation on the icing sheets, make sure to put them in a cake box with a loosely fitted lid. You should never store printed icing sheets in the fridge before use, as this will cause them to become brittle and break.

What Sizes Are Icing Sheets Available In?

Icing sheets are available in a range of shapes and sizes. The most popular size are our full A4 icing sheets, but EPS also stock these in A5 for smaller, single edible prints and A3 for high-volume edible printing.
